Hi! We’re Alysia and Baker.
We’ve been together for six years and share two big things in common:a cozy home and a genuine love for animals! Our business, Pets Vacation While You Do, is based out of our cozy home in Omaha, Nebraska, where we care exclusively for small dogs (under 30 lbs) who need a calm, loving place to stay.

I, Alysia, have been caring for pets professionally for over a decade. I previously ran Pets Vacation While You Do from 2014–2019, and I’m excited to be reopening and caring for pups again in 2025. I’ve worked at a veterinary clinic, the Humane Society, and a local kennel as well, giving me hands-on experience with a wide variety of temperaments, health needs, and personalities. 

We also share our home with a couple of small dogs and senior cats of our own who are gentle and used to guests. Because comfort and safety matter, we introduce everyone slowly and intentionally.
We use baby gates, scent swapping, and visual introductions first so each dog can adjust at their own pace. No rushed greetings as we don't want to overwhelm anyone.

We focus on a relaxed, cozy atmosphere that helps smaller dogs feel secure and confident. It’s a great fit for pups who do best in a quieter setting.

🏡 Our Home Environment

We live near Miller Park, perfect for short strolls and sniff-adventures.
Our backyard is fully fenced, 100 feet of grass and sunshine. One side has a 6-foot privacy fence and the other is secure 4-foot chain link. We check the fence line regularly for shifting ground or rabbit holes, and we never leave dogs unattended outside. Playtime is always supervised, gentle, and safe.

Inside the house, we prioritize comfort:

• Two queen beds pushed together for nighttime snuggles

• Blankets, beds and soft resting spots everywhere

• A quiet and cozy pace, never overwhelming or chaotic

🐶 Small-Dog-Only

We specialize in only small dogs. That means:

• No large dogs with prey drive

• No overwhelming pack environments

• No barking kennel energy

• No rough-and-tumble play with dogs bigger than yours
  
  

This is a niche, small-dog-safe home, where tiny pups can relax, feel secure, and be understood by people who get them

We keep routines structured and gentle:

• Meals on schedule

• Frequent potty breaks (no dog is ever left more than 4 hours)

• Daily play, affection, and rest time

• Individual attention for every pup
  
  

Between the two of us, someone is almost always home, and we adjust our daily rhythm to match the pets we are caring for.

🧡 Our Capacity (Quality Over Quantity)

We keep our home intentionally small:

• Up to 3 dogs from one household

• Or up to 2 dogs from different homes total
  
  

This ensures:

• No overcrowding

• Your dog gets the most one-on-one attention

• A peaceful atmosphere

• Stress-free bonding and rest time

Your dog is never “just another boarding guest” here.
